4 SEASONS IN FINLAND

From the Southern islands to the Northern fells, the Land of a Thousand Lakes reveals itself in a brilliant tapestry of colours and shapes, timeless yet ever-changing
Picture
"My family has a long history with Finland. My dad worked at the French embassy, my grand-mom met Mrs. Kekkonen after giving birth to my mom, when the Finnish President's wife visited a maternity in France, and we traveled the country one summer, when I was a child...
It's only in 2014 that I came back to Helsinki, the capital, as a student. I was attracted by snow and heavy metal, but it's the nature that captured my soul. I fell in love with Finland, and realized it was the place where I wanted to be"

Ha, Spring! The last snow has yet to melt, but the resident birds have already started to sing. Soon, the migratory species come back from the south, leaves start to appear on trees, and before you know it, the woods are buzzing with life again!

Summer is here, with its endless sunsets and short, bright nights. It's time for Finns to flock to their summer cottages, to enjoy a sauna and a dip into the lake. It's a peaceful and quiet time.

Slowly, the days shorten and get colder, and Summer gives way to Autumn. The ruska sees taiga and tundra abandon their coat of green for a splendid assortment or yellow, oranges and reds, while mushrooms and berries abound. Most birds move south en masse, leaving only a few tough ones behind to face the harshness of Winter.

In Winter, days are cold and short. Kaamos, the eternal light, descends on the northern reaches of the country, and in some places, the sun doesn't rise at all for 50 days.
Over time, snow covers the land, the sea freezes, and the Northern Lights dance under the stars.
