Here is a Northern giant petrel on a nest, at the edge of a rata forest on Enderby Island, in the Auckland Islands archipelago.
This image was Highly Commended in the 2020 Bird Photographer of the Year competition.












​Penguins - rock stars of the Southern Ocean!
The dark rocks of the Antipodes Islands offer stunning backgrounds for penguin photography. Captured from an inflatable boat, this Erect-crested penguin showed curiosity towards its visitors.
"Living for 3 weeks on a ship with 50 other passengers was a new experience, and the Southern Ocean did not spare us, but spirits were always high. The blend of passion and knowledge in the group was remarkable, and I learnt a lot. At the end, only one question lingered in my mind: when can I do this again?"
